Health care systems need to be advanced if a nation has to progress.  Nation is an abstract identity that survives on its own. It basically consists of men, women and children who give physical shape to a nation. In order for a country to grow its people should remain hale and healthy.

Health care is not all about treating a person when he or she falls sick. It involves a lot of pro-active monitoring of health of people. Thought accidents and other mishaps do happen regularly, which require a robust and working health care system, many people suffer from ailments which are easily preventable provided there is a good preventive health care system in place. Each nook and corner of any country should have facilities for conducting routine tests such as checks to determine cholesterol levels, blood pressure and blood sugar tests.

Let us remember that the two major sources of death throughout the world are heart attacks and strokes. If these two giant killers could be tackled, the health care delivery systems would have taken care of the most major problem and challenge. However, to tackle these twin challenges it is necessary to have a good preventive mechanism in place.

Another challenge which health care providers face in many parts of the world is diseases which thrive and grow in poverty. Tuberculosis, cholera, malaria, dengue and many other air, water and insect borne diseases are also great killers and fighting these is indeed a big challenge. Along with a good health care system it is also very important for the authorities to pay attention to clean surroundings and help provide clean drinking water and pure air. Without these basics being in place it is unlikely that real health care will ever take off. Further, if people are made more literate and are moved up one-notch from the deep hole of poverty, that itself will go a long way in ensuring good health care facilities.

Obesity and Health Problems

Obesity is a common problem seen today. Though there are adults who are obese it is the kids who are he major victims of this problem and it continues to their adulthood if not checked at the right time. Obesity is not just about being fat; it is about being unhealthy both physically and mentally, about having to deal with multiple problems to health on a regular basis.

One of the common health risk seen in obese people is cholesterol and subsequent heart problems like heart attack and cardiac arrest. This is mainly because of the high cholesterol junk food that the people nowadays have on a regular basis. It is easier to get and less time consuming, but the fact is junk food can cause you a lot of harm.

Another problem is diabetes. Even the young children are being diabetic from a young age of 10-20 year olds. This is because of their addiction to soft drinks which is a very serious problem indeed. The soft drinks are laden with sugar and its contents so that it tastes good. This frequent intake of sugar affects the functioning of the body and leads to diabetes.

Many other problems are seen too, among which impotency is prominent. People who are obese have difficulties conceiving. Apart from the physical traumas there are also mental traumas like low self esteem and depressions to be overcome. Children who are obese find it difficult to face the public and so remain inactive.

The only way to fight with obesity is to eat healthy and loose weight, unless it is some trouble related to medical problems. In that case medications would have to be taken. Obesity, if it can be overcome, should be fought hardly so that you can lead a healthy and normal life in the future.

Focus on Health Next Year

Each year, thousands of people make the nearly annual decision to get healthy. The beginning of the year offers countless reasons to take that step. Many people simply feel the need to start fresh, with a clean slate moving forward. Others, on the other hand, have overindulged during the holiday season and need to take the time to get back into shape. No matter what the reasons are, the start of the new year is the perfect time to get fit.

Start off by planning for this move in December. Make decisions about what your needs are. Consider your particular goals from last year and better fit those goals for the coming year. Do focus on what your body needs. You may need to lose weight. You may want to invest in eating a diet rich in healthy nutrients to help fight off the signs of aging or to help strengthen your immune system. You can do all of these things, but you should plan to do them now, before the start of the month.

Consider the benefits of a gym membership. Consider your options for investing in discounted fitness equipment for home. You may just want to join a few fitness clubs at the local recreational center. Do this now so that the first day of the year marks a new change.

In addition to taking these steps, also focus on getting healthy by purging your home of the foods you should not eat. Stock up on nutritious foods that fit your goals. This is also a great time to make an appointment with your family doctor. Get a physical to learn the true state of health of your body. These steps do not take a long time but they do provide you with the resources you need to get fit.
The good news is that if you plan early, you can make next year the year you, finally, get healthy again or for the first time.

Inactivity is often the cause of obesity. Studies show that those who are not physically active for at least ten minutes per day have an increased risk of developing a wide range of health complications. Years ago, the physical labor of work, from feeding animals to plowing fields burned energy and kept people fit. Today, modern lifestyles are full of conveniences. While you may not want to give those benefits up, it is still important to focus on ways to get active nonetheless.

If you do not stay active, chances are good you will experience a number of health complications. You are more likely to be overweight or obese. Adults and children have a higher risk of being overweight if inactive. This leads to increased risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. The development of conditions related to obesity continues to rise as people remain inactive.

Some studies show that the number of sedentary jobs has increased by 83 percent since the 1950’s. Only about a quarter of all jobs are physically demanding jobs. More so, in 1950, about half of all jobs required some level of physical activity. In addition to this, the number of hours people are working has increased. People today work 164 more hours a year than people did 20 years ago. All of this has also added to the increased cost in health insurance. As people become more inactive and less healthy, the need for doctors increases. That leads to additional costs from insurance companies and complications in overall health care.

What can you do about being inactive? Take up a sport. Go for a walk. Enroll in a physical fitness class at your local recreation center. The more active you are, the healthier you will be in the long term. Further, you may experience improved feelings. Those who are active are often more positive about life and report a better quality of life than those who are not active.
