One of the biggest challenges parents face is making sure their kids have a healthier lifestyle. Parents want nothing but the best for their children and this means living a long, healthy life.

By making sure your kids are living a healthier lifestyle will help with prevention of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and other problems that could ultimately lead to obesity.

The first step would be to cut back on the amount of time that’s spent playing video games and watching television. It’s always better to encourage exercise and more physical activities such as going to the park, taking swimming lessons or playing their favorite sport.

The biggest part of making sure your kids are living a healthier lifestyle is by making sure they’re eating healthy. Create a meal plan and try to stick with it, no matter how much your child fusses. Stick with fruits and vegetables as side dishes and include meals with whole grain and lean meat. Don’t eat, or cut back on, processed food.

Exercise is an important part in staying healthy. Think of exercises that will be fun to your kids. If the exercises are fun than they’re going to keep doing them. An example would be to take swimming lessons. Your family can enjoy a nice day at the pool while getting some exercise.

It’s OK to reward your children a little bit for eating right and getting exercise. As adults we all do that while on a diet. It’s OK to allow your kids to have a little bit of ice cream or chips. Just make sure they’re not eating too much of it or too often.

A new miracle. A bundle of joy. Daddy’s little tax deduction. A new baby is coming. It’s one of the most exciting times in a woman’s life. When mommy first finds out she is pregnant, it seems that the big day will never come. When it does come, she is left wondering where the last nine months went. Most mommies to be want to remember every moment, from the stick turning blue, to the first wistful cry.

Keeping track of your pregnancy is a great way to show junior what you were doing while awaiting his or her arrival. Keeping a pregnancy calendar not only tracks the baby’s progress, but it’s also a great way to ensure a healthy baby and mother. Tracking your progress makes sure that mom and baby are on the right course health-wise: baby is growing according to schedule and mom is keeping herself just as healthy.

As the pregnancy progresses, mom and baby are constantly changing and growing. Keep track of your doctor visits, from the first, “Yes you are pregnant”, to the “It won’t be long now.” At each visit, you will have many questions on how the baby is doing and what you can do to insure a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Having it all written down will ensure that you ask all the questions you had, and you can keep track of the answers, too.

There is one more advantage to keeping a calendar while you are pregnant. It makes for great scrapbooking, if you can find the time once the baby has arrived.

The Difference Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are becoming more and more prevalent in the United States. The two syndromes are often confused with each other as they have some similar symptoms. There are however some differences between the two.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS)

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome in which the body misinterprets pain. There are sets of pain points around the body called myofascial pain points of which much of the pain associated with fibromyalgia is based. On a person with fibromyalgia, these pain points are very tender to touch. This then causes nearby areas to feel just as tender. Other pain in fibromyalgia includes joints. The fibrous tissue around the joints is affected, causing many undiagnosed people to think they are suffering with arthritis.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

The hallmark symptom of chronic fatigue is a very high level of exhaustion. Chronic fatigue also incorporates symptoms which are similar to the flu. However these flu-like feelings do not seem to go away and can sometimes feel like they are getting worse. Many people with this syndrome find it difficult to muster up any energy, even to get them out of bed in the morning.  This persistent exhaustion then leads to feelings of weakness.

Although fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue share the symptoms of fatigue, pain, sleep disturbances and memory and cognition issues, the difference between the two lies in the type of pain experienced. The pain in fibromyalgia is associated with the bodies multiple set of myofascial pain points, whilst the pain in chronic fatigue is as a result of constant flu-like symptoms which wear down the body increasing susceptibility to pain.

Four Common Causes of Teenage Impotence

Impotence is an increasingly common problem among teenagers. Since it’s often a difficult subject to discuss with family and doctors, erectile dysfunction can quickly lead to depression. Causes vary greatly, but there are some obvious contributing factors such as smoking, alcohol use, insomnia and stress. Teenagers have the option to buy Viagra, but addressing other problems first can often cure erectile dysfunction.

Teenagers who buy Viagra can temporarily get rid of their impotence problem, even if it is temporary. Viagra is a prescription drug that requires you speak with your doctor about your impotence. Never use more Viagra than is recommended by your doctor and use common sense when taking any drug. Illegal drugs can be a huge contributing factor to teenage impotence, especially steroids. If you have erectile dysfunction and are taking illegal drugs, the drugs could very likely be the cause.

Smoking is already a complicated issue with teenagers, but the nicotine in cigarettes can cause erectile dysfunction. Nicotine decreases circulation, which makes getting or keeping an erection difficult. Stopping smoking can greatly decrease your risk of impotence.

Drinking alcohol is another contributing cause of teenage impotence. Alcohol hinders hormone production and can prevent erections entirely. Even small amounts of alcohol can throw off your hormone levels, so avoiding alcohol altogether is recommended.

Insomnia and stress are often linked to teenage impotence. Insomnia is typically caused by stress from day to day life, family issues, bad grades, weight gain, and allergies and can be aggravated by a bad sleep schedule. Doing deep breathing exercises and avoiding excessive caffeine can reduce stress and the risk of erectile dysfunction.
